The new tax year is just a couple of weeks away so for many of us it’s price rise time.
Will clients complain? Leave? Ignore your communication? Try and talk you down?
I think we’ve all been there, I certainly have. I will hold my hands up and admit – I do not like talking to clients about money. Not my regular ones anyway – new clients, one-off cleans, I’m fine with, confident as can be. (Hmmmm, I have never noticed that before. Interesting).
Why confidence matters when raising your cleaning prices.
That confidence is key. It gets us clients, help us keep those good clients. It changes how they see us. When we speak to our clients from a place of confidence they see us as a professional service provider. They see our value. And are less likely to try and knock our prices down!
Where do you get that confidence from though? For me – a lot of that confidence comes knowledge.
I know how much money I will have in the bank at the end of the month.
I know how much I will earn per week if I raise my prices by £2, £3, £5.
And it takes me very little time or effort to get those figures. A few minutes, if that.
I’m not some sort of maths wizard. I don’t pay an accountant to work it out for me. I have built systems and tools that do it for me.
And I’m going to share those with you, with any other cleaners who want them, too.
Stop guessing: Use simple systems to manage your cleaning business finances
I want to help cleaners be professional business people. Not ‘just a cleaner’ who is winging it and stressed. This is what The Cleaners’ Business Hub is about; practical help and knowledge that helps us run professional businesses with ease and success.
Tools to help you raise your cleaning prices with confidence
So without further ado, here are the things I use to keep on top of price rises and all my business finances:
Cleaning Pricing Income Calculator (free download)
My Pricing/Income Calculator is a simple spreadsheet. Enter your existing or new rates, how many cleans you do and/or how many hours. The spreadsheet adds the totals and tells you your overall income. As you fill it in! Zero effort required. You can download it here (it’s free).
Financial Foundations: my step-by-step course for cleaners that shows you how to sort it all!
The accounting and payments system I use for my own cleaning business is awesome. It tracks my income and expenses, it takes payments direct from customers, it sorts my tax return. It’s too complicated to explain in a few sentences… And I know that if you’ve never set up such a system you might be daunted, maybe not bother trying. So I made an online course to show you how to set it up, and how to use it. It’s just gone live! You can find out all about it here, and if you’re one of the first 10 to sign up using the code FIRST10 you’ll get a chunky discount and pay just £22 (regular price £33). I won’t get into sales pitch here 😆 but for less than one clean’s income and a few hours work – you’ll have a system that saves you so much time and stress.
